Safety

Is it safe to ride with someone you met in an app?

Short answer: yes, if you keep to a few rules that are not about fear but about common sense. Here is the checklist experienced riders use.

Verify the profile, not the photo

A photo can be pulled off the internet. A Garage with real bikes, mileage and face verification cannot. In TwoUp! every profile can carry face verification and a Garage - and without them a rider does not appear on the map.

Have a call before the ride. Two minutes of voice say more than a week of texts.

Public place, daylight, your route

Meet at a petrol station, outside a café or in a supermarket car park. Never at someone's home and never after dark.

Propose the first route yourself and stick to roads you know.

Do not hand over your contacts straight away

A phone number, an address or your socials are not needed to go for a coffee ride. TwoUp! has three layers of contact protection, so the conversation stays in the app until you decide otherwise.

Tell someone where you are

Name, profile, route, time back - send it to one person you trust. Experienced riders do this after twenty years in the saddle.

If something feels off, you end it

Pressure about speed, pressure about alcohol, pressure about anything - that is the end of the ride, not a discussion. A decent biker respects it without a word. And reporting a profile is always the right reaction, never an overreaction.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check out a biker from an app?
Check the face verification, the Garage with real bikes and the history in the app, then have a short call before the ride. Plan the meeting for a public place in daylight.
Should I give my phone number before the first ride?
There is no need. Keep the conversation in the app - TwoUp! has three layers of contact protection exactly so that you do not have to hand out your number.
What if my partner rides too fast for me?
Stop and say so. If the pace does not come down, end the ride - riding beyond your own limits is the most common cause of group accidents.
